Three years ago today,* I was on a train with Randal, bound for Takayama, a town known as "Little Kyoto", which is located a couple of hours north of Gifu City. A famous festival happens there every year, and we were lucky enough to be able to stay with our friend Nancy who was living up there, and take it all in.
* Granted, things get a bit messed up when trying to determine exactly when 3 years ago today was, because of the whole international dateline problem. However, I am not getting into the semantics of that argument - 3 years ago today, April 13, 2010, was April 13, 2007, even though I was in Japan and so really 3 years ago "today" for the Japanese should actually be April 14.
